JOHN HOWARD LESTER
MARCH 25, 1940 - JANUARY 27, 2010John Lester was born on March 25, 1940 and passed from this life on January 27, 2010.
He was born to Jim and Annie Lester in Granbury, Texas and grew up in Granbury and Bay City, Texas. In 1960, he met Sue Gouge and was married on April 22, 1960. They spent 49 years and 9 months loving each other and their family.
John moved to the Brazosport area in 1968 where he went to work at Penney's Barbershop in Freeport. In 1970, he moved his business to Lake Jackson where he went to work at Plantation Barbershop and continued to cut hair until the day he passed from this life. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Clute, where he worshiped the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Lester and Annie Green; brother, Bud Lester; and grandson, James-Michael Lester.
John is survived by his spouse, Sue Lester of Clute; three sons, Jeffery Lester of Richwood, Thomas Lester and wife, Darlene of Lake Jackson and Michael Lester of Columbus, OH; six granddaughters; one grandson; two sisters, Louise Boone of Yoakum, TX and Henrietta Dablegott of Bay City, TX; and many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2010 at Stroud Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at First Assembly of God in Clute. Revs. Thomas Lester and David Wilson will be officiating the service.
Pallbearers will be Brandyn Lester, Steve Lester, Kevin McEntire, Marvin McEntire, Brent Bowers and Mike Terrell.
John was a loving husband, a great dad and a PaPa who will be greatly missed. We will always remember life's lessons that he taught us, but more importantly, he taught us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind.
