NELLIE MAY MACON SMITH
MAY 9, 1928 - JANUARY 10, 2010Nellie May Macon Smith, 81, of West Columbia, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at her residence. She was born May 9, 1928, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Nora Macon.
Nellie was a registered member of the Citizens Potawatomi Nation in Oklahoma and was raised in Gainesville, Texas. She was a bus driver for Columbia-Brazoria I. S. D. for many years. She was a resident of Brooks Manor Apartments in West Columbia for 17 years where she enjoyed playing games and working puzzles with her friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Aaron Brown of San Diego, California; granddaughter, Shawna Brown of Las Vegas; brother, Earl Gene Macon and wife, Joyce of Angleton; nephews, Eddie Macon and wife, Carol of Houston, Leldon Macon of Angleton, Travis Boaz and his wife, of Willis; nieces, Jeanne Alexander and husband, Terry of Angleton, Nancy Cleveland and husband, Dennis of West Columbia, Angela Hoepner of West Columbia, Brenda Macon of Houston, Cheryl Jez and husband, A. J. of Alvin and Dana Boaz Hadauia of Willis.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., in the Activities Room at Brooks Manor Apartments in West Columbia with Bro. Jim Walker officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery in West Columbia.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute.
Honorary pallbearers are her nephews, Dennis Cleveland and Terry Alexander.
Nellie will always be remembered for her positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor. She always had a smile.
