JULIA LEE MARTINEZ
FEBRUARY 4, 1937 - JULY 13, 2010Julia Lee Martinez, 73, of Freeport, went to be with her heavenly Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. She was born in Palacios, Texas to Frederico and Genoveva Hernandez on February 4, 1937. She has resided in Freeport for the past 45 years.
Julia was a person who enjoyed life and was always laughing and joking. She had celebrated 53 years of marriage on Monday, July 12. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Her greatest joy in life was being with family and grandchildren. She was also a past member for LULAC #636 for 16 years.
Her father, Frederico Hernandez and sisters, Rachel Buckley and Cindy Hernandez, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Pete Martinez, Sr.; four sons, Mark Martinez and wife, Michele, Fred Martinez and Trisha, Pete Martinez, Jr. and Rene Martinez; daughter, Regina Martinez Chavez (Jaime), all from Freeport; six grandchildren, Heather Mendoza, Fredrick, Laura and Julie Martinez, Kimberly Garcia and Kelby Martinez; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Martinez Mata, Ila Mendoza and Jalen Ferguson; mother, Genoveva Hernandez of Palacios; sisters, Virginia Zarate of Bay City and Esmeralda Hernandez of Palacios; and many other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport. The funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010, at St. Mary's with Father Edmund Eduarte officiating.
Interment will follow at Restwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Fredrick Martinez, Lino Martinez, Jr., Robert Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Roland Zarate and Carlos Garcia.
